Weingart Center: Helping Those Experiencing Homelessness Move Toward Stability

The Weingart Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that provides homeless individuals with the basic tools necessary to stabilize their lives, secure income, and find permanent housing. Our mission is to empower and transform lives by delivering innovative solutions to break the cycle of homelessness.

We do so by providing a comprehensive array of services to people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles, including housing assistance, healthcare referrals, substance abuse treatment, clinical services, and much more. We believe that opportunities and services should be accessible to everyone regardless of personal economic status or housing situation.

We know that it can be challenging for people experiencing homelessness to get the help they need and deserve. That's why we're here to ensure that no one has to face their challenges alone.

Access Center

The Access Center is where many of our clients begin their journey with us. When someone walks into our center, we assess their needs and identify the program(s) that best suit their needs. Our intake coordinators help new clients complete paperwork and gather all necessary documents if needed. Each step of the way, the goal is to remove barriers that prevent clients from obtaining permanent housing.

Clinical Services Department

Our Clinical Services Department -- made up of dedicated substance abuse counselors and clinicians -- works to ensure that each client’s mental health needs are addressed. The Clinical department utilizes best-practice treatment models that include: early recovery, relapse prevention, educational groups, social support groups, crisis intervention and individual counseling.

Our clinical services department offers individual and group therapy sessions, focusing on issues such as trauma, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and grief and loss. Our mental health team aims to help individuals establish and maintain personal goals and develop a healthy, independent lifestyle free from the debilitating effects of mental illness and addiction. Our group sessions include: 16-week, intensive substance treatment (Matrix), 12-week Anger Management sessions, Women’s Wellness group, Reel Therapy, and Art Therapy.

Enhanced Bridge Housing for Women

The Enhanced Bridge Housing for Women program at the Weingart Center provides vital services to women while they search for permanent housing. Our clients receive counseling and support services that include assistance in obtaining identification and medical care, as well as help with housing placement. Special emphasis is placed on trauma-informed care that is specifically designed to address the unique needs of women (e.g., sexual assault, domestic violence, community violence, etc.). The all-female team organizes an array of female-focused social activities and events that promote community, healthy living, and social development. From outdoor walking groups to karaoke and birthday celebrations, these activities provide comfort and normalcy to our clients.
