Golfing for Good

We couldn’t be happier or more grateful!

Not only did our 26th Annual Golf Classic Fundraiser exceed our fundraising goals and expectations, it was all for a very good cause:  addressing homelessness in Los Angeles.

The event, which took place on April 4th at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, not only raised a lot of cheer but also a lot of money. Participating golfers and sponsors picked up prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, low net, and more. We had more golfers participate in this fundraiser than any previous year, and notably, more female golfers than ever before.

Most importantly, we were able to raise more money than in any previous year in the 26-year history of this important event. Money which will aid Weingart’s mission to provide services, programs, and housing projects to help end homelessness in Los Angeles.

“Thanks to some of you in this audience, we are now building the biggest homeless housing project ever in the history of the city or the state,” Senator Kevin Murray (ret.) said during the celebration and awards dinner.

During the event, we were proud to present the Champions of Change Award to longtime Weingart board member Al Plamann, President of Plamann & Associates, LLC. The Champions of Change Award recognizes Al for his efforts helping Weingart reduce homelessness through the development and creation of affordable and permanent supportive housing in Los Angeles.

“We get the benefit of his wisdom and also the benefit of his support. It has served us well,” Murray said. “He gives us the institutional memory, wisdom, love, and support.”

To everyone who participated in the 26th Annual Weingart Golf Classic Fundraiser, thank you! We look forward to an even more dramatic result next year… and, with your help, transforming the lives of thousands experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles.
