The Weingart Center's Women’s Bridge Housing (WBH) program provides a safe and secure environment for female clients who are searching for permanent housing. WBH offers a unique approach to helping women transition out of homelessness. By offering supportive services and care, the WBH program provides a new lease on life for women in the Los Angeles area who fight for the opportunity to build a new future for themselves.

Temporary Housing

For most of us, searching for a new home comes with its own set of complications: first and last month’s rent, deposits, credit checks… the list can go on and on. Now imagine how difficult it can be to find a permanent home when you don’t even have a place to call home—a place where you can sit down, fill out applications, prepare documents, etc.

The Weingart Center’s Women’s Bridge Housing program is designed to address the many traumas that women experiencing homelessness face--starting with the basic and most pressing need: temporary housing.

Residents in our WBH program can stay for six months to a year while they work toward reaching their long-term housing and employment goals. After each 90-day period, residents may request an extension, which can lengthen their stay and continue to receive many of the comprehensive wraparound services offered at the Weingart Center. WBH offers:

  • Single and Double Rooms

  • Three Meals a Day

  • Shower

  • Laundry Facilities

Programs

We believe a positive, compassionate environment is essential for women in their journey to self-sufficiency. That’s why residents in our WBH program enjoy an all-female staff (intake coordinators, case managers, counselors), who are trained to understand the unique challenges women face.

Each participant receives an individualized plan that focuses on her needs to get back on track and move forward with her life. We understand that many of the women who enter the WBH program have experienced trauma or abuse in some form, so we're committed to providing them with an environment where they feel safe and supported as they progress toward stability.

  • Individualized Plans focus on:

    • Housing Management (planning and tracking)

    • Housing Preparation Classes

  • Specialized programs address:

    • Healthcare (medical and dental referrals)

    • Mental Health (individual and group therapy)

    • Domestic Abuse

    • Trauma

Activities

When dealing with significant life changes, finding time for oneself and one’s health can be challenging. That's why we encourage our clients to get involved in activities that will help them improve their health and well-being — even when they're busy with other things.

There are many opportunities for activities onsite:

  • Journal Groups

  • Bingo Night

  • Birthday Celebrations

  • Walking Groups

  • Art Groups

  • Movie Nights

Wondering if Weingart Center’s WBH is right for you?

The Weingart Center is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness for women in Los Angeles. By introducing new life skills, honing existing ones, providing resources and referrals, and offering ongoing support, our female clients are given every opportunity to lead a stable and fulfilling life.

Even if we do not have an WBH bed immediately available, our dedicated staff can refer a client to a similar program or to another organization that can meet her needs.

Remember, every Weingart Center program and location is pet-friendly, meaning a client will never be forced to abandon their companion animal whilst searching for permanent housing. We even offer ways for you to care for your pet, such as vaccinations, grooming referrals, pet medication, food assistance, and more.
