Tonja Boykin is one of Los Angeles’s most influential nonprofit executives, bringing more than three decades of nonprofit leadership to some of the region’s most urgent housing challenges. Since joining the Weingart Center Association as Chief Operating Officer in 2016, she has helped guide the organization through one of the most transformative periods in its 40-year history—strengthening the strategy, operational infrastructure, and partnerships needed to improve outcomes for thousands of Angelenos experiencing homelessness. Under her operational leadership, Weingart Center has evolved from a single-site homeless-services provider into a major developer and operator of affordable housing, completing five affordable housing communities over the past five years alone. Together, these communities provide 739 permanent supportive and affordable homes for people exiting homelessness, including seniors and Veterans.

Boykin’s leadership continues to shape a stronger, more resilient Los Angeles by helping residents secure safe, stable housing while fostering inclusive, supportive communities where individuals can improve their quality of life. Her leadership is steady, principled, and deeply human. Her exceptional impact has been recognized through honors, including being named one of LA’s 50 Power Women in Real Estate Development and receiving the City of Los Angeles Impact Maker to Watch Award.
