Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, 600 San Pedro. Welcoming LA’s Largest Permanent Supportive Housing Community.
June 12, 2025, marked a milestone for Weingart Center as we held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for 600 San Pedro, the city’s largest 100% permanent supportive housing community to date. Located at the intersection of 6th and San Pedro Streets, this transformative development is more than just a building—it’s a beacon of hope and stability for hundreds of Angelenos.
A New Standard for Supportive Housing
Spanning 1.12 acres, 600 San Pedro offers 298 fully furnished studio apartments for residents earning at or below 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI). With rents set at 30% of household income (capped at $795), and backed by project-based rental subsidies, these homes are designed to remain affordable for the long term. Each apartment comes move-in ready, complete with heating, air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen, and a Welcome Home Kit of essentials.
Designed for Community and Well-Being
What truly sets 600 San Pedro apart is its focus on resident well-being. The building boasts 30,300 square feet of community space, including:
An on-site dog park and landscaped courtyard
Community garden and multiple balconies
Relaxation areas with stunning city views
Career center, library, and fitness center
Bicycle storage and on-site laundry rooms
These thoughtfully curated spaces foster a sense of safety, connection, and opportunity—helping residents build community and thrive.
Comprehensive Onsite Support
Residents at 600 San Pedro benefit from a robust suite of onsite supportive services provided by Weingart Center. From individualized case management and health care to employment assistance, education support, and community engagement activities, every resident has access to the resources they need to succeed. Placement is coordinated in partnership with local agencies, including the LA County Department of Health Services, Department of Mental Health, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
A Model Partnership
600 San Pedro is the result of a powerful public-private partnership. Weingart Center Association and Related California co-developed the project, with architectural design by LARGE Architecture and construction by Charles Pankow Builders. Barker Management, Inc. oversees property management, while Citibank provided both construction and permanent financing. The building is also targeting GreenPoint Rated certification for sustainability, underscoring our commitment to a greener future.
Looking Ahead
Completed in June 2025, 600 San Pedro stands as a landmark achievement in Los Angeles’ ongoing efforts to address homelessness and housing insecurity. This community offers not just a place to live, but the stability, dignity, and comprehensive support that define the very best in modern apartment living.
We are proud to welcome our new residents home and look forward to seeing 600 San Pedro become a thriving part of the Downtown LA community.
