Weingart Center Association to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for 11010 smB, Newest Permanent Supportive Housing for Formerly Homeless Seniors and Senior Veterans

Los Angeles, CA (January 26, 2023) – At 9:00 a.m. on February 15, 2023, the Weingart Center will host a special ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of 11010 smB, the Weingart Center’s newest permanent supportive housing development for formerly homeless seniors and senior Veterans in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will be in attendance.

The new housing development nestles beautifully into its surroundings at 11010 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, bringing a sense of inclusion and community to residents.

Adding to the 501(c)(3) nonprofit’s existing portfolio of interim and permanent supportive housing solutions in Los Angeles County, the development reflects the Weingart Center’s mission to empower and transform lives by delivering innovative solutions to break the cycle of homelessness.

11010 smB residents will benefit from comprehensive wraparound services that include case management, medical and mental healthcare, client plan development, substance use counseling, legal/benefits assistance, and more.

“From the RFP award to the groundbreaking to the grand opening, it has been a swift process,” states Weingart Center President & CEO, Senator Kevin Murray (ret). "Weingart Center Association believes everyone deserves a safe and secure place to call home, and we are proud to provide that for our senior and Veteran populations."

The beautiful 51-unit development, which is within one mile of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, features 50 fully furnished studio units, 1 management unit, pet-friendly living, round-the-clock security, patios, rooftop deck, community room, gym, and much more.

“11010 smB is a shining example of what affordable housing can be and comes at a time of tremendous need in the community, and throughout Los Angeles,” said Rosalind Ross, Vice President of Community Development Banking at Chase. “We’re incredibly proud of our role in bringing 11010 smB to fruition and the impact it will have on formerly homeless seniors and senior Veterans who now call it home.”

City officials, Weingart Center key leaders, and members of the local community in attendance will enjoy a walkthrough of the new facility and a special rooftop ceremony.

“We should be judged as a society by how we treat our elders and how we treat those who have risked their lives in order to serve our country,” states Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. “It is scandalous that projects like these are even needed in the second largest city of one of the richest countries in the world—to ensure our elders and our veterans are not forced to live on our streets unhoused. We must act with urgency. No Angeleno should be living on our streets. Together, we will bring people inside, save lives and restore communities."

The Weingart Center is committed to working with city officials, local organizations, and the community-at-large to ensure all seniors and Veterans have access to the supportive housing they deserve.
