When it comes to overcoming homelessness, the obstacles can seem insurmountable. At the Weingart Center, we want to change that by ensuring that people experiencing homelessness have access to interim and permanent supportive housing along with the comprehensive services they need to get back on their feet.

For individuals released from prison, this can be a challenging time — it's hard to find work or housing, and it's easy to fall back into old habits of crime or self-destructive behavior. That's why we offer Re-Entry Programs for those on Post Release Community Supervision (PCS). We believe everyone should be able to re-enter the community as safely and successfully as possible.

AB109 Re-Entry Program

The AB109 Re-Entry Program is a 90-day program designed to help individuals released from prison obtain employment and housing resources and develop skills that will help them stay on track once they're back on their feet.

The following criteria must be met to enroll in the AB109 Re-Entry Program:

  • Individuals must be under an AB109 classification through Los Angeles Department County Probation Department Post Release Community Supervision

  • Must be referred by Health Right 360

First, the probation officer needs to put in a referral to Health Right 360. Once we receive the referral, one of our case managers will contact the client and schedule an intake appointment at our downtown location. As a participant in the AB109 Re-Entry Program, the client can access the following services:

  • Case management

  • Referrals to onsite clinical services, employment services, and housing services

  • Referrals to offsite supportive services such as healthcare, mental health, substance use, legal, benefits assistance, and more

  • Savings program

  • Transportation assistance

Transitional Housing Program (THP)

The Weingart Center's Transitional Housing Program (THP) is a 180-day residential program that provides housing, meals, and supervision for long-term offenders. The program requires a direct referral by a parole agent, and offers a structured setting where clients receive case management services, education/cognitive behavioral training, and life skills that are intended to assist them with reintegrating into the community with strengthened social support.

The following criteria must be met to enroll in THP;

  • Adults 18+

  • Individuals who are currently under parole supervision

As a participant in the THP Re-Entry Program, the client will receive the following:

  • Case management

  • Groups counseling offered five days a week

  • Specialized groups (substance use, CBT, life skills)

  • Referrals to onsite clinical services, employment services, and housing services

  • Referrals to offsite supportive services such as healthcare, mental health, substance use, legal, benefit assistance, and more

  • Savings program required

  • Transportation assistance

Specialized Treatment for Optimized Programming (STOP)

STOP (Specialized Treatment for Optimized Programming) is a comprehensive re-entry program for people on parole who have been referred by Amity Foundation. It provides housing, education, vocational training, and job placement to help them successfully re-enter the community. The maximum length of stay is 180 days, with extensions based on need.

As a participant in the STOP Re-Entry Program, the client will receive the following:

  • Individual counseling offered by a certified drug and alcohol counselor

  • Groups counseling is offered five days a week

  • Access to specialized groups (substance use, cognitive behavioral treatment, life skills)

B7 Bridge Housing Program

Our B7 Bridge Housing Program provides a safe, low-barrier, temporary residence to adults who are exiting from incarceration or in custody and whose lack of stable housing would cause continued incarceration while awaiting trial or a court hearing. This program provides the following:

  • A room (most are single occupancy)

  • Three daily meals

  • A laundry facility

  • Case management

  • Access to programs and resources for those working on obtaining permanent housing

When we bring together dedicated staff members, volunteers, and other community partners, we create a space where individuals can learn skills and improve their lives. No one-size-fits-all solution will work for every individual but giving them the necessities to thrive is a step in the right direction.
