Launches Downtown Chapter of the Weingart Partners - 03/10/2007
Downtown Weingart Partners Aim to Improve the Quality of Life and Make an Impact in the Downtown Community by Providing a Professional and Social Networking Forum Benefiting the Weingart Center Association.
Los Angeles, CA - October 3, 2007 — The Weingart Center Association (WCA) today announced the launch of the Downtown Chapter of its Weingart Partners to address one of the key quality of life issues facing Downtown— homelessness. Amidst the renaissance of Downtown, and knowing that most of the nearly 90,000 homeless people of Los Angeles County live in and around the downtown area, WCA thought it the ideal time to establish a Downtown Chapter of its Weingart Partners to provide a network that will unite downtown residents and professionals with new and established businesses in their community as well as raise funds for WCA.
Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles’ Skid Row, WCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides comprehensive health and human services to homeless individuals, giving them the basic skills necessary to stabilize their lives, secure income and find permanent housing. The Weingart Partners are young professionals who have committed themselves to creating a better community by volunteering their time and resources to organize events for and raise awareness of the Weingart Center and its mission to break the cycle of homelessness – a paramount concern for Los Angeles.
Carmen Rodriguez, Assistant Vice President, Metropolitan Region for City National Bank, was appointed Chairwoman of the Downtown Chapter of the Weingart Partners. “I am pulling together a quality group of downtown-based people to share in this very exciting new concept of building a greater personal network Downtown and making a positive impact on our Downtown community at the same time,” said Rodriguez. “It is important that we play a part in making all of Downtown a better place to work, live, have fun and enjoy.”
City National Bank will host an inauguration breakfast for the Downtown Chapter of the Weingart Partners on October 19 at its office on South Flower St. The Downtown Weingart Partners will host its first fundraising event, a wine tasting, on November 14 at the new Ralph's Supermarket on Flower St. at W. 9th St., which opened in July. This wine tasting is the first of many events the Downtown Weingart Partners plan to organize and host. “We hope these events will not only
benefit WCA, but also the community by introducing downtown locals to their surrounding businesses and neighbors,” said Rodriguez.
If you would like to become a member of the Downtown Weingart Partners, or attend one of their events, please contact the Weingart Center Association’s Development department at 213-627-5302.
