International Media Attorney & Studio Executive Fight Homelessness
Stanford Alumni Stephen Scharf & Jeff Small Join Weingart Center Association Board

Los Angeles, CA - August 12, 2010 - The fight against homelessness has gained a great deal of momentum today at the Weingart Center Association in downtown Los Angeles. It was announced that Mr. Stephen Scharf of O’Melveny & Myers and Mr. Jeffrey Small of DreamWorks Studios have just joined the Weingart Center’s board of directors, adding to an existing list of executives from a myriad of industries.

Stephen Scharf

Scharf serves as a partner in O’Melveny & Myers Century City office, with a focus on their entertainment, sports and media practice. His particular focus is in transactions related to the financing of studios, partnerships, film sales and individual motion picture productions. He regularly works on a number of international motion picture financing transactions in the UK, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong and China. Scharf received his Juris Doctorate degree from Stanford University Law School. Scharf joined the Weingart Center because says that he “was overwhelmed by the dedication of the people involved in the organization and the important things the organization is doing.”

Jeff Small

Small currently serves as the Chief Operation Officer of DreamWorks Studios, alongside his partners Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider. With the company’s recent separation from Paramount Studios, Small shepherded the relaunching of a newly independent DreamWorks Studios and secured a near $1 billion in capital to carry the group forward. He is a graduate of Stanford University and a native of Marietta, Georgia. For Small, joining the Weingart Center Board stemmed from seeing how “the Weingart Center empowers the needy individual with education and job training... resulting in a person refilled with a sense of self-worth and pride; a real check in the plus column for the individual, the workforce, and certainly for the LA community as a whole.”
