Los Angeles, CA: On July 8, the Weingart Center Garden Project, one of the few green spaces in Skid Row, was officially dedicated. The area was renamed “Hope Row” by Gregory Scott, President and CEO of the Weingart Center Association, because of the transformational work that the Weingart Center Association and other community organizations are doing to change lives of the homeless. Other distinguished guests included Mayor Villaraigosa and Congresswoman Roybal-Allard.

Weingart Center Association Opens Green Space in “Hope Row”
Los Angeles, CA: On July 8, the Weingart Center Garden Project, one of the few green spaces in Skid Row, was officially dedicated. The area was renamed “Hope Row” by Gregory Scott, President and CEO of the Weingart Center Association, because of the transformational work that the Weingart Center Association and other community organizations are doing to change lives of the homeless. Other distinguished guests included Mayor Villaraigosa and Congresswoman Roybal-Allard.
The green space will allow for Weingart Center participants to have a space to relax, reflect and rejuvenate. The community garden was made possible by a grant through AmeriCorps, and AmeriCorps members provided most of the labor for the garden project. Other partners on this project include the Los Angeles Christian Health Centers, Los Angeles Mission, Midnight Mission, Union Rescue Mission, and Volunteers of America. Cal Spas donated a BBQ and other accessories for the area.
