Weingart Center Association Dedicates Community Garden for Skid Row Homeless
Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa To Speak at Dedication

     
What:  The Weingart Center Association will dedicate the Weingart Center Garden Project with Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, Mayor Villaraigosa and Gregory C. Scott, President & CEO of Weingart Center Association.  Speakers available upon request. 

When: Thursday, July 8, 2010, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Where:  The Weingart Center Association, 566 S. San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Purpose:  The Weingart Center Garden Project seeks to provide a green oasis in Skid Row, allowing the homeless to draw on the relaxing and healing power of nature to assist them in transforming their lives.  This is an AmeriCorps Week 2010 project, sponsored by Weingart Center Association in partnership with Los Angeles Christian Health Centers, Los Angeles Mission, Midnight Mission, Union Rescue Mission, and Volunteers of America.  The garden was designed by Eva Knoppel of Garden of Eva Landscape Design Group and the principal donor is Cal Spas.
