Donations Make a Difference

Having nearly 51,000 homeless people on any given night, Los Angeles is the “Homeless Capital of the Country”.   We all need to take a stand against this staggering fact.  Thousands of people should not be forced to live on the cold, dirty streets because there isn’t adequate low-income housing or access to healthcare, education and employment opportunities.

The Weingart Center is making a difference, and so can you by supporting our programs and services, which impact our community every day.

Contributions from private individuals, foundations and corporations help us continue giving men and women the basic skills necessary to stabilize their lives, secure income, find permanent housing, and ultimately, break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

Change is Possible

The Weingart Center is much more than a homeless shelter, offering a bed for a night and a meal for the hungry— We offer a long-term solution. When individuals lose hope but want to turn their lives around, they seek out the homeless services at the Weingart Center, which are comprehensive and compassionate. We are here to help by providing housing for up to two years, access to medical treatment, mental health services, substance abuse recovery, life skills courses, education and workforce development. We address all the barriers preventing someone from leading a productive life off the streets. “If you do everything your program tells you to do, there’s no way you can lose,” says Samuel, a participant in our Veterans program who is now working as a security guard in Beverly Hills.

Invest in People and the Community

Your investment in the Weingart Center is an investment in people. It is an investment in the community. We depend on you to join with us in transforming lives and changing the streets of Skid Row. Your donation not only allows us to provide critical services and resources but also directly contributes to the success of our participants, and the betterment of our community. “I was given one last chance,” says Perry, a former participant who graduated in 1999. “The Weingart Center gave me that complete transition— from treatment to my own place...and now, everything about my life is going great.”
