Permanent Housing

Permanent Housing

As the largest provider of transitional services for homeless men and women in Los Angeles County, the Weingart Center Association is acutely aware of the pressing need for affordable housing for its participants and the greater community. This demand for housing is particularly acute for very low income people, specifically those who would benefit from ongoing support services.

The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) notes that Los Angeles County will need to build 70,117 new housing units for very low income households between January 2006 and June 2014, including 27,436 in the City of Los Angeles. To help meet this extraordinary need, the Weingart Center Association intends to expand its continuum of services beyond transitional housing and begin producing and managing permanent affordable housing, specifically permanent supportive housing.

The Weingart Center Association will focus on larger projects with integrated supportive services to be located within the County of Los Angeles. At the present time, several sites are under consideration.
