Senior Director of Real Estate Development

Under the direction of the President and CEO, the Senior Director of Real Estate Development has responsibility for day-to-day operations of specific projects, mainly rehabilitation, and new construction of low-income rental and supportive housing developments. The position requires superb communication and teamwork skills and is located in the administrative offices in downtown Los Angeles. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to the following:

1. Function as the Weingart Center’s representative on the development team currently working on the three phase development project that is projected to result in up to 700 new units of affordable and supportive housing on properties currently owned by WCA.

2. Manage the design and development of additional new affordable and supportive housing developments, subsequent to their feasibility stage, including:

3. Prepare for the President and CEO as needed analysis and underwriting for new projects including:

4. Coordinate preparation of materials for meetings and presentations to funders, partners, public officias and political decision makers.

5. Perform other duties as direction in other areas where the position’s skills, knowledge and experience may be needed.


Qualifications

At least 5 years of relevant experience in working with and fully understanding various affordable housing finance sources

Able to understand and manage affordable housing proformas.

Strong team player and effective communicator who is able to multi-task and meet deadlines.


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Working knowledge of major local, state and federal affordable housing programs and policies.

Have a deep understanding of the Los Angeles affordable housing and real estate market and landscape.

Ability to think creatively.

Strong computer skills in complex Excel spreadsheet applications, Word, and

Outlook.

Proven organizational and problem solving skills.

Ability to work with private lenders, equity investors and other business contacts.

Self-starter with demonstrated high degree of independent initiative.

Ability to work in a fast-moving, flexible environment.

Ability to organize and schedule tasks in support of multiple deadlines and projects; detail oriented.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Current CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) issued by the California Certification Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors, RAS (Registered Addiction Specialist), CAS (Certified Addiction Specialist), CAADE required. Bachelor's degree in Human Services is not a substitute for certification requirement. 

A minimum of 2 years experience in substance abuse, mental health and dual diagnosis treatment and service delivery. Some education may be substituted for experience.

LCSW preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in governmental and/or nonprofit human services/service delivery. 

2-3 years managerial experience, providing data management, analysis and recommendations’ experience working with homeless and/or low income, and the re-entry populations, substance abuse, mental health, dual diagnosis treatment preferred. [Programs Administration]

LCSW required. Licensed for at least 2 years strongly preferred w/2-3 years managerial experience. Substance abuse, 

mental health and dual diagnosis treatment and service delivery experience and strong knowledge base of treatment modalities.

Housing Navigation Caseworker 

Bachelor’s degree in a social service field strongly preferred, at least 2 years relevant experience is required. 

Knowledge of low income housing resources, social service, welfare, legal, corrections, 

substance abuse, alcoholism, mental health care, and other systems associated with target population.

House Manager

The House Manager oversees center operations during evenings and weekends under the direction of the Residential Services Manager. 

AA degree in social work, psychology, Human Services, or related field, or equivalent experience. 

2 years of experience with homeless and/or other disenfranchised groups preferred. 

Previous work history working with homeless individuals, or other at-risk populations desired. 

Work shift: 10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
