Volunteers from UPS and Agape International Spiritual Center Beautify our Café Courtyard

On Saturday June 26, volunteers from Agape International Spiritual Center and UPS plus Weingart Center staff and even a few participants came together to beautify the courtyard behind the Weingart Center Café, an area that participants use daily.
Over 30 volunteers worked from 8am to 5pm pruning trees, watering plants, trimming hedges, disposing of all garbage, and power washing the area. They also sanded and stained the wood tables and benches, and removed the lattice from the bordering fence and replaced it with green mesh to provide privacy from neighboring buildings.
Pedro “Pete” Ramirez, a UPS Service Provider, brought his three children to help with the café courtyard clean-up. “I can describe this one experience as one that really matters,” says Pete. “Sometimes we volunteer with other organizations for the sake of fun, but volunteering at the Weingart Center was done for the real necessity of community build up. My children were involved and that alone has already paid off. I’m proud of the fact that they did something for others.”
