3rd Annual Psomas Paper Yacht Challenge
June 17, 2010

Pint-sized yachts – Titanic rewards!
Build a paper boat and race it to the finish line!

Close to 60 proud paper yachts sailed downtown Los Angeles’ City National Plaza Fountain on June 17th in the Psomas Paper Yacht Challenge. This charity regatta is organized and hosted by Psomas Engineering and raised $6,000 for the Weingart Center. More than 150 spectators cheered for the yachts while enjoying food, beverages, a magician, Taiko drummers and music by a DJ. In addition, there were 26 great silent auction items including VIP packages for the LA Dodgers, hotel and restaurant packages for some of L.A.’s best, as well as nine members of the Los Angeles City Council who allowed people to bid on taking them to lunch, bowling or other outings. The first three yachts to cross the finish line were awarded trophies and bragging rights. Certificates of special recognition were given in several other categories including best design, best nautical costume, and for those boats that sank, the Titanic award. Thank you Psomas!
