Supportive Residential Services (SRS) Program
A Program That Cares About the Issues Of Homelessness
The Supportive Residential Services (SRS) Program offers emergency and transitional housing to approximately 200 homeless men and women with a broad range of needs. The SRS Program helps individuals reach and maintain a higher quality of life through case-management services, resources, and referrals. SRS provides an opportunity for homeless individuals to gain information and access to services they need. Individuals meet with assigned case workers on a weekly basis and participate in structured treatment and educational groups.
The SRS Program provides a specialized array of services and referrals to individuals based on an initial needs assessment. Each individual develops goals with his/her assigned case worker. Service plans are then created for the individual. The service plans include measurable, identifiable short-term goals. Each individual is assisted with identifying and obtaining stable income and permanent housing. Examples of general services and referrals provided by SRS are:
- Counseling and Advocacy
- Transportation
- Dental and Medical Care
- Mental Health Services
- Substance Abuse Services
- Legal Services
- Food
- Further Transitional and/or Permanent Housing Options
- Education Opportunities
- Employment Training
- Socialization/Recreation
The SRS Program case workers empower their clients to help foster self-sufficiency. This is accomplished through promoting productive activities, as well as by providing encouragement, education, and support. The SRS Program collaborates with other agencies in the community to assist the individual in attaining the most effective, beneficial services available. The SRS Program also employs case workers who provide specialized services to Spanish speaking individuals, and individuals who have been diagnosed with psychiatric disorders.
Some of the collaborative SRS community partner agencies are the Department of Mental Health, Volunteers of America, Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
