General Relief Opportunities for Work (GROW)

GROW is a collaborative partnership with the Weingart Center Association, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), and the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). Individuals filing for general relief benefits are mandated to take part in this program with the goal of obtaining permanent employment and self-sufficiency through a short-term, intensive job preparedness and employment search curriculum.

  • Step One: A one-day Orientation and Appraisal
  • Step Two: Job Club- a one-week “how-to” workshop and two weeks of intensive job search with the assistance of job developers
  • Step Three: Vocational Assessment if participants do not find a job during Job Club. If participants agree that training or education will help to secure employment, we will provide referrals. Additionally, if participants need more help with job search, one-on-one job counseling and referral services will be provided.

For more information on this program, contact the Program Manager 213-689-2235.
