Kathleen Dunn
Kathleen Dunn is a former participant of the Weingart Center's SuperTrack Program. A native of Pennsylvania, she entered the program in December of 1999, suffering from years of chronic substance abuse and the recent death of her husband. Unemployed since 1997, Kathleen also had a compulsion for gambling, which ultimately resulted in the loss of her housing and independence.
Depressed about her situation, and apprehensive about trying to put the pieces of her life back together, Kathleen's progress in the program was initially slow. In time, her confidence began to build through interactions with program staff and participation in group activities with other program participants.
Because of her renewed sense of hope, Kathleen was able to successfully bring her substance abuse and gambling issues under control, complete a short-term vocational training to enhance her office skills, and secure employment.
Kathleen transitioned from SuperTrack into her own housing in October of 2000, and is currently employed full-time as a legal secretary in a prestigious Los Angeles law firm.
